Callaway Group Real Estate team visited the Denver Museum of Contemporary Art last week, seeing installations by three featured artists – Taki 183, Basquiat and Ryan McGinley.
With regard to graffiti, I tend to be of the viewpoint that Real Estate is private property and honestly have perceived graffiti as vandalism, and not so much art. So, taking my team to see an exhibit of graffiti art was a real stretch for me. However, we connected with private tour guide extraordinaire, and that made all the difference. Frances Charteris quickly opened our minds to the creativity and expression that is graffiti, gifting us with a greater understanding of the art form and its origins. Interesting insights, and observations broadened our team’s diverse viewpoints. It was a fun to see the different responses and interactions with each exhibit. Afterwards, gathered at the museum’s coffee shop, we enjoyed more conversations and giggle; debating and laughing about our reactions.
