Aurora, Colorado is the state’s third largest city, and is known for its cultural food, artistic exhibits, outdoor recreation, and relaxing atmosphere. It is one of the principal cities of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Originating in the 1880’s, Aurora slowly began to grow in Denver’s shadow becoming the fastest-growing city in the United States during the late 1970s and early 1980s. It is composed of hundreds of subdivisions, a large military presence, more than 100 parks, more than 6,000 acres of open space and natural areas, and six award-winning municipal golf courses and also home to several privately owned golf courses.
