Living in a Land Down Under!

By May 28, 2017 No Comments

About three months ago, I had the incredible opportunity to move to Tasmania, Australia. During my time here, I’ve been enchanted with the lush nature and gorgeous views Tasmania has to offer. Settling into my home of Hobart, Tasmania I’ve had fun exploring the city and immersing myself in Hobart’s rich culture.

Hobart truly has everything to offer someone craving to be closer to mother nature while still having the perks of a city. With the beach being just a 20 minute walk from my apartment and the city accessible by transit, living in Hobart has been a dream come true.

When the weekend rolls around, my favorite thing to do is venture down to Salamanca Square where the Salamanca Market is hosted every Saturday from 8am-3pm. I’m surrounded by fresh produce, live music, and delicious street food smells filling the air. Items for sale are inexpensive and shop-owners are friendly, eager to share their stories about their products.

I spend my afternoons reading or journaling in Franklin Square which features a gorgeous sculpture fountain and delightful benches to sit back and relax. I take in the warm sunshine while feeling the cold dew from the grass on my feet.

The Cat & Fiddle Arcade (outdoor mall) is just minutes from Franklin Square. Clothing stores that line streets can satisfy any shopaholic’s obsession.

Friday Nights at Franklin Square are truly something special. The community hosts “Franko Street Eats” which is a night filled with food trucks from local restaurants serving the best cuisine to hungry patrons. There’s a live band playing jazzy music which is tempting for any music lover to get up and dance!

Just a glimpse into the diverse city of Hobart. Betcha wish you were here!
